Genomics Technician

We are looking for a Genomics Technician to join our dynamic R&D team. In this role, you will support high-throughput genomics workflows that underpin our breeding pipeline. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge lab equipment and computational tools to generate and analyze genomic data that drives informed breeding decisions.

Genomics Technician

Your responsibilities:

  • Genomic Sample Preparation & Analysis
    • Extract, quantify, and quality-check DNA from plant tissues
    • Operate and maintain sequencers, PCR machines, and other molecular biology equipment
    • Troubleshoot and optimize workflows to ensure reliable, high-quality data
  • Data Management & Collaboration
    • Collaborate with the bioinformatics team to facilitate smooth data handoffs and analyses
    • Maintain organized records of samples, methodologies, and results
    • Contribute to data interpretation meetings, offering insights from laboratory perspectives
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation
    • Stay updated on the latest genomics techniques and applications for breeding
    • Assist in designing and refining protocols for high-throughput genotyping and sequencing
  • Cross-Functional Support
    • Partner with breeders, geneticists, and other R&D teams to align genomic outputs with breeding objectives
    • Adapt to varying project priorities, stepping in to support additional lab tasks or field operations when needed

Your profile:

  • Education & Background
    • Master’s or Ph.D. in Genetics, Genomics, Biotechnology, or a related field (or equivalent laboratory experience)
    • Previous hands-on experience in a molecular biology or genomics laboratory
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficiency in DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and next-generation sequencing workflows
    • Familiarity with genotyping or advanced sequencing platforms, plus basic bioinformatics (R, Python) is a plus
    • Strong attention to detail in experimental design, data capture, and record-keeping
  • Additional Competencies
    • Effective communication and collaboration, partnering with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced lab environment, with flexibility to shift between tasks as projects evolve
    • Interest in plant breeding, agricultural biotechnology, or genetic improvement is highly desirable
