Our CEO, Gavin George of Puregene, took part in The Growing Sessions – Unveiling the Future: Breakthroughs in Cannabis Genetics. Alongside experts like Sonny Moerenhout, Atiyyah Ferouz, Dara Kearney, and Max Majot, the session provided a deep dive into how advancements in cannabis genetics are shaping the future of cultivation.
One of the major takeaways was the importance of integrating both traditional breeding techniques and molecular plant science to drive real innovation. By combining the art of breeding with precision molecular tools, we can develop cultivars that not only have targeted cannabinoid and terpene profiles, but also exhibit improved resistance to environmental stresses. This holistic approach is laying the foundation for more efficient and sustainable cannabis production.
The Path to Pan-European Legalization: Model Projects
Our COO, Luca Cereghetti, joined the panel on Model Projects – Are They the Path to Pan-European Legalization?. The session, featuring Alfredo Pascual, Adele Hollmann, Peter Homberg, Simone van Breda, and Timo Bongartz, explored the current cannabis trials in Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Each country’s model project was discussed in terms of its unique challenges and opportunities, shedding light on how these trials are influencing regulatory frameworks across Europe.
This panel underscored the significance of cross-border collaboration to align legal and public health frameworks. Switzerland’s pioneering pilot projects, Germany’s upcoming recreational market, and the Netherlands’ “weed experiment” all serve as crucial reference points for the future of cannabis legalization on a pan-European scale.
